There exists a curious dichotomy working with the Downtown Project. On one hand, we have one BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal), which is to essentially to (re)-build the city of the future, and do it as quickly as possible. Not to mention try and reform education and healthcare while we’re at it. Given the scope of what we are trying to do, we are moving at breakneck speeds, especially when compared to similar projects (oh wait, are there really any similar projects?).
On the other hand, the axiom regarding construction projects is also proving to be true (everything will take twice as long and cost twice as much). It is a weird feeling to sometimes be moving so fast that you struggle to keep up, and at other times wonder why progress isn’t being made.
Kind of similar to life I guess. In case you can’t tell, I’m in the middle of one of those busier stages, but am loving every second of it. Well, almost every second.
