Weekly Review 4/14

Weird week this week. For a variety of different reasons. Directional change for work, the death of someone I knew (who has a pretty awesome TED Talk worth watching), the ripple effects from that, heavy research decision, friend being diagnosed with depression, way too many deep conversations in far too short a time span, planning for a retreat, thinking about waste, spontaneous trip to snowy mountains, trying to figure out direction for the future, interactions with camels, a little bit of reading, and not nearly enough time for introspection. There was fun mixed in there as well too, I promise. Zappos Family Picnic, palm readings, swings, good company, all happened, too. And a really freaking delicious lunch after aforementioned random trip to mountains!

1) Blog consistently.
Struggle bus with the GMP piece. Editor keeps wanting me to do something I don’t know how to do (in terms of writing style).

2) Get outdoors.
Went to Mount Charleston for the first time. With highly inappropriate footwear. Was berated later for going solo. And not telling anyone where I was going. But, I survived? And thoroughly enjoyed the solitude.

3)  Continue to make my position evolve.
Still in charge of garbage. Among other things. Busy few months coming up.

4)  Read more.
No progress. Working on Friendfluence (still). Reading time is being cut down as I am stuck trying to write things for number 6.

5) Stay in touch with people better.
Talked to Amber, Elizabeth, Amanda, and Ariana. Woot! Looking over at my call lists, I can’t decide if it is heavily biased towards women because they’re more willing to talk on the phone or because I’m just friends with a lot more chicks.

6)Finish up my obligations in Chapel Hill.
Got to make a decision about first authorship and lots of work or second authorship and much more manageable work. And figure out which is more important/relevant for my future and how much wanting to take ownership versus pride are playing into my decision making. Womp womp.

7) Run the half or full marathon in Las Vegas this December.
Still no running… Whoops.

8) Get 7 hours of sleep a night.
Think I got it!
