Quote of the week: “If you’re not scared, you’re probably not learning anything.” Fred Dust IDEO, blast from the past at VFA Training camp last year.
Bonus Quote: “Oh shit, my mom just Google stalked you!”. Prompting me to think about writing a blog post about the hazards of built in SEO with a name like Ovik Banerjee.
Keeping up my streak of good weeks, despite currently writing this at the Oakland airport after my initial 6:00 am flight got cancelled. Did get a 7:00 am flight though, and there’s free wifi? Long day Tuesday, missed out on trivia but had a good dinner discussion, successfully opened a new space for work, had some great discussions about Progression Lab, had a bittersweet farewell dinner/party for Romotive, went to a Brazilian Steakhouse for dinner Thursday, flew out to the Bay Friday, went to a Cambodian place for dinner, did Treasure Island and Twin Peaks, with Bi rite Ice Cream in between, woke up and went to Pescadero for goat cheese and artichoke bread (and llamas!), drove along Highway 1, got some really good chai in Half Moon Bay, hiked most of Windy Hill, had Japanese sushi curry (thanks Adelaide) for the first time, wandered around Stanford’s campus, played Spot It and Trigger for the first time, had some really good conversations, spent the morning in Berkley at Gregoir’s and Sal’s, saw Carolina friends intentionally and serendipitously, went to two used book stores and am returning home with 5 books that I didn’t have before, dinner at a Burmese place, and then post dinner conversation and bonding with old friends and new. Solid week.
1) Blog consistently.
This is sort of happening. Here anyway…
2) Get outdoors.
Goat farm. Pescadero. Windy Hill Summit. I’m doing alright.
3) Continue to make my position evolve.
Opened up a new space. A lot more to go though.
4) Read more.
Finished The Future and The End of Leadership. Now reading the Walmart Effect.
5) Stay in touch with people better.
Talked to Alison. Visited Adelaide and James. Saw Matt, Becca, Shalini, Tara, and Owen.
6) Finish up my obligations in Chapel Hill.
Holding pattern.
7) Run the half or full marathon in Las Vegas this November.
Got the sniffles, so no training. Did go on a 4-5 mile hike.
8) Get 7 hours of sleep a night.
Caught up on some sleep while sorta sick. But maybe I need to sleep more. Luckily wasn’t too sick while actually in California.
First time eating “Japanese sushi”, Ovik? I think you’re writing this too early in the morning. 😛
Glad to have a devoted proofreader… 😛
