Buldogi’s Gourmet Hot Dogs

About a month ago I went to Buldogi’s Gourmet Hot Dogs. I was taking the scenic route back from the Innevation Center and also wanted to pop into REI to see if I needed anything before heading to Glacier. I looked for highly rated but only $ sign on Yelp, and Buldogi’s was on the list (and the closest to me)!

I had a little bit of trouble finding the place. It is on Fort Apache nestled in a building surrounded by Village Square on Fort Apache between Charleston Blvd and Sahara out over in Summerlin. Plenty of parking was available. It isn’t a huge space, but it was open, airy, and had an expansive menu, covering both the wall behind the food prep area and a massive whiteboard in the seating that listed specials and their burgers. They’d gotten a lot of rave reviews outside of Yelp as well, with numerous awards from local newspapers and magazines.

Buldogi is a combination of the korean word bul and dogis referring to hot dogs. It is also a play off of bulgogi, which literally means fire meat in Korean. With that in mind, I walked in, studied (both the menus), and went with the Beef Bulgogi Dog (beef hot dog, bulgogi, asian slaw, g-onions, sesame seeds, and bulgogi mayo with a small order of fries. Total price including tip? $10 bucks.

There weren’t many other people in the place when I walked in, so I got my food really quickly. And I was extremely excited when I got it!

Buldogi's

The hot dog itself was really well cooked, with just a little bit of crisp and the toppings were all extremely tasty. Really, the only disappointing part of the meal was the fries. They weren’t bad by any means, but they were pretty ordinary. Might have to try the specialty fries next time! But I would definitely go back.

Rating- 4/5 Food was good overall, fries were just average. Service was great and the space itself was very well kept.
Price range – Cheapish. ~10/person per meal
Location – Summerlin
Recommendation – Good low key place to have a fairly cheap meal with friends. I’d get an entree and a side order of specialty fries to share. Has a good number of vegetarian options too.
